Welcome to our WGB Instructional Program. This is being offered to girls in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and beginner 3rd Graders starting for the 2025-2026 season. Learning basketball fundamentals is crucial for young players. WGB has developed these sessions to focus on progression from very basic skill introduction, to practicing these skills, to development of these skills, and eventually to game play. All players will receive a T-Shirt and basketball to bring with them every week.  

Kindergarten  Skills - 1 hour every Saturday morning at Abigail Adams. These skills will focus on teaching players basic fundamentals such as ball handling, passing and shooting. The players will participate in fun games that will revolve around the particular skills learned that session. There will be small sided game play for these young players. Adjustable hoops will be used for shooting exercises.  

1st and 2nd Grade (8-week session) Skills - 1 hour every Saturday morning at Abigail Adams. For the first few weeks, players will run through station drills organized to focus on correct shooting, ball handling, and passing. Players will then progress into more challenging skills, such as moving without the ball, defensive drills, and exposure to the rules of the game to ready them for the next level. Towards the end of the program, players will be organized into evenly matched teams and will practice their newly learned skills in game play.  

C Division (3rd & 4th Grade) Has your daughter been in the instructional program ? Is she ready for game play? Our 3rd/4th grade league will introduce athletes to team play. One practice per week at Abigail Adams will also be offered (times/days to be determined). All games will be held at on Saturdays Abigail Adams. . Playoffs will be held following the completion of regular season games.

B Divisions ( 5th & 6th Grade) One practice per week at Abigail Adams will also be offered (times/days to be determined). All games will be held at on Saturdays Abigail Adams. . Playoffs will be held following the completion of regular season games.

A Division: (7-10th Grade) Limited practices due to scheduling with travel/middle school teams. All games will be held at on Saturdays Abigail Adams. . Playoffs will be held following the completion of regular season games.
